Dr. Joseph S. Madrak, OD, Dipl. ABO

Dr. Joseph Madrak is a Board-Certified optometrist with over 20 years of clinical experience in comprehensive eye care, ocular disease treatment and management, specialty contact lenses, and surgical co-management. Dr. Madrak has provided personalized, high-quality care at Eye Care Associates in the heart of Shelton, CT for the past 10 years since taking over the long established practice of from Dr. Howard Cohen.
Dr. Madrak completed his residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in New Jersey. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry, graduating on the Dean’s List. Dr. Madrak holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology Cum Laude from the University at Albany, played NCAA Div. I Football and conducted neurobiology research while there.
Throughout his career, Dr. Madrak has held leadership roles in both private and surgical practices, including serving as Clinic Director at LCA Vision, a national LASIK center. And clinical positions at Eye Disease Consultants affiliated with Hartford Hospital. He's also been involved in clinical instruction as an adjunct faculty member and preceptor for PCO optometry students.
He remains active in professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists, where he served on the Board of Directors and currently chairs the Scholarship Committee.
His dedication to service extends beyond the clinic, having volunteered with the Special Olympics' Opening Eyes program and co-founded the University at Albany Volunteers Club. While at Albany, Dr. Madrak played NCAA Division I Football for the Great Danes and was an Academic All-American. His team won Conference Championships two years in a row. Dr. Madrak continues to bring the same discipline and dedication to his professional life.
Outside the office, Dr. Madrak enjoys coaching his children's sports teams, skiing, cooking, and spending time with his wife and children.
